This lesson explains some basic ideas on how to solo over a 2-5-1 progression, including thinking in modes, arpeggios and using the Altered (altered, lydian dominant, melodic minor) scale to play over the V7. For the full lesson plus notation/tabs of some of the examples go to http://www.thejazzchameleon.com/lessons/lesson9/lesson9.html
Duration : 0:6:57
Part one of a two part lesson on the modes of the melodic minor scale and how they’re used over common jazz chords and progressions. Recommended for those who already know their major scale modes and the basic functions of jazz progressions. (iim7 V7 Imaj7, etc)
